Salar holds a Master of Science in Water Resources from Lund University in 2012 with a background in Civil Engineering (B.Sc.). He has worked as research engineer at the Water and Environmental Engineering/LTH in various research projects from 2012 to 2014. Since June 2014, he is a doctoral student at Water and Environmental Engineering, Lund University. His research interest area is stormwater management in cities with focus on blue-green infrastructure components.
