Master thesis project on biochar in anaerobic digestion

In recent years several scientific reports indicate that the addition of biochar to anaerobic digestion can increase biogas production and improve the stability of the process.

In this thesis, Aashutosh Kumar Thakur investigates whether the addition of biochar, such as sludge biochar, has any effect on digestion when the operation is switched from mesophilic to thermophilic. The master thesis is carried out by laboratory experiments at Chalmers University of Technology and is supervised by Oskar Modin. The sludge biochars under study comes from Danish full-scale plants.
